The Trace Bitmap feature isn’t available in Design Space, and is well worth learning about. If you’ve used Design Space (or other design software), then you will already be familiar with many of the features in Inkscape, they just have different names! We’re focusing on the Trace Bitmap feature in this post. It offers better customization and design options when it comes to preparing SVGs for Cricut.
Inkscape is a free design software that has far more features than Cricut Design Space. These files are usually JPEG, so we need to convert it into an SVG to use with the Cricut Maker, and we’re using Inkscape! FYI there’s really no difference between a JPEG and a JPG file, so don’t stress and know that this method works for both! Next click on attach so the offset and text stay together when you go to the cut screen.
Click on the upload icon.ġ7- Select your saved file and upload to your design space.ġ9- Go to line type and change to draw. Drag the node to the width of the offset you want.ġ0- Click on the color palette and change the color of the offset so you can see it.ġ1- With both selected, click on object - group.ġ4- Open cricut design space.
This will weld any overlapping text.ħ- With the text still selected, go to Path - linked offset.Ĩ- You will see a little node at the top left of your text.
